Welcome to my home page. I am Dr. J. J. Brainerd, a theoretical astrophysicist with an interest in x-ray pulsars, gamma-ray bursts, and other high-energy phenomena. I have extensive experience conducting theoretical and data analysis studies of astronomical phenomena. My work is published in numerous papers that have appeared in The Astrophysical Journal, Nature, and various conference proceedings. Currently I am developing The Astrophysics Spectator, a web site that presents astrophysics to the educated public.
